Bank Robbery Suspect Found in Mansfield Sporting Goods Store
On Tuesday afternoon, Mansfield Police arrested and charged a man with unarmed robbery.

It didn’t take long for Mansfield police to arrest a bank robbery suspect thanks to a little help from workers at a sporting goods store.
Derek J. Kaufman, 43, of Norfolk, was charged with unarmed robbery Tuesday afternoon and is awaiting arraignment.
At 12:39 p.m.,Mansfield Police responded to a reported robbery at Bank of America on North Main Street. Bank personnel reported a hispanic looking male, approximately 5’5 or 5’6, wearing a dark jacket with a hood up entered the bank demanding cash with no weapon being shown. The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

During a search of the area, employees at Grogan Marciano Sporting Goods flagged down officers after discovering a suspicious male inside the store changing into clothes and dropping money. The officers entered the store and secured the male. The suspect was positively identified and placed under arrest.
