Mansfield Mothers’ Club: Clean House & Help Others

Our recent Relay For Life team fundraising yard sale got us thinking about all of the other yard sale signs popping up. The warmer weather naturally brings us all out of our shells and gets us thinking about cleaning out the closets and “stuff” areas, big and small.

Maybe it’s our old Yankee practicality, but doesn’t it feel great to not only clean out your own unused stuff, but to also provide all of those items to charities that will either resell, reuse or recycle them? Right here in Mansfield there’s multiple options for donating to a good cause. Among them, Salvation Army donation bins, which are located on Rte. 106 at Bristol Liquors, accept clothing. You can also provide donations to the bins at Cannon Fuel on the corner of Rte. 106 and Hope Street, and of course the Big Brothers Big Sisters donation site located at Stop & Shop, by the gas station. PlanetAid accepts clothing, shoes and linens at drop boxes near the Elm St. Garage on S. Main St. and the VFW post on Chilson Ave. The Mansfield Public Library also accepts used books and media that are in excellent condition, and either shelves or sells the items to support our free public library. Plus, you can also donate those old reading glasses to the Mansfield Lions Club when you get a new prescription.

We recently came across the site Donation Town, which has a huge database of charities that have donation sites or pick-ups that can be scheduled for your own home. They include:
