Ex-Mansfield Selectman Drunkenly Crashes Into Pregnant Woman: PD

The former Mansfield selectman drunkenly crashed into a car driven by a woman, who was four months pregnant, police said.

MANSFIELD, MA — A former Mansfield selectman was arrested in North Attleboro last week after driving drunk and crashing into a car driven by a pregnant woman, according to police. Michael McCue, 52, pleaded not guilty in Attleboro District Court to drunken driving (second offense) and driving to endanger. McCue served two terms on Mansfield's Board of Selectmen from 2001 to 2007.

Around 5 p.m., last Wednesday, McCue crashed into a car at Park Street and Route 1. Police told the Sun Chronicle the other car was driven by a woman who was four months pregnant; she was worried because the airbag went off and hit her stomach. The woman was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for treatment. According to police, two witnesses reported McCue took a left turn from Route 1 to Park Street, but failed to yield for the woman. Police said McCue failed several field sobriety tests and did not take a breathalyzer test.
