Former Taunton Man Indicted on Fentanyl Charge from Mansfield

Police say Dan Smith sold fentanyl from his room inside a Mansfield motel.

MANSFIELD, MA — A former Taunton man has been indicted by a Bristol County Grand Jury for a fentanyl charge out of Mansfield.

Dan Smith, 34, whose last address was a sober home in New Bedford, was indicted on charges of possession with intent to sell both fentanyl and cocaine, according to the Sun Chronicle.

In September, Smith was arrested at the Red Roof Inn on Forbes Boulevard. During a search, police allegedly found 5 grams of crack cocaine and over 2 grams of a brown powder later identified as fentanyl.

The indictment moves the case to Bristol Superior Court in Fall River. No arraignment date has been set.
