Judge Allows Ex-Mansfield Worker Held on Weapons Charges Free on Bail

A Providence man who was arrested in Mansfield after allegedly showing a co-workers guns in his car is free from jail.

Attleboro District Court Judge Daniel O’Shea ordered Thomas Melone, 31, free on $2,500 bail after a dangerousness hearing Monday, calling the decision to hold him in jail without bail “ill-advised” according to the Sun Chronicle.

Mansfield Sgt. Michael Ellsworth said that Melone made no threats towards his co-workers, noting that the display was more of a boast.

A company official called Mansfield police last Monday after the now former National Lumber employee showed off the guns and ammunition in his car. He pleaded innocent to all nine related charges.
