Mansfield Garage Fire Extinguished During Dangerous Heatwave

MANSFIELD, MA — Firefighters didn't get a break from the weekend heat wave as they battled to extinguish a garage fire Friday as apparent temperatures rose to 100 degrees. The fire started around 12:45 p.m., at the corner of Dean and West streets, and despite the heat, was under control in about 20 minutes without any injuries.

The garage was attached to a house on West Street, and spread to the garage's mezzanine, but was put out before it could spread to the house fire officials told the Sun Chronicle. The garage contained a small motor boat, and some other items, which took damage. Fire officials didn't have a dollar estimate for the damage.
