Mansfield FY19 Town Budget Balanced, Town Manager Says
The budget will be presented to the selectmen Feb. 14.

MANSFIELD, MA — Things are looking optimistic for the Mansfield fiscal year 2019 budget.
Town Manager Kevin Dumas told the selectmen last Wednesday that he expects to present them a balanced budget at their Feb. 14 meeting. The good news came following much work with town Finance Director and Accountant John Stanbrook, he said.
The update is an improvement from the last budget, which projected a $2.34 million deficit. The gap was closed with a $1.7 million expense cut and an additional $857,000 to be raised through proposed user fees.

"At the end of the day, if we do that, in conjunction with paying for one time items with free cash, we will not need free cash to supplement the budget," Dumas said.
Dumas did not expand on what items would be tagged with a user fee.
