Mansfield High Students Qualify for National Film Competition
The student documentary, "Smallpox, Big Difference" will be shown at a national competition at the University of Maryland.

On April 6th at Stoneham High School, Cody Henault, Marika Xifaras, Lindsay Kenney, and Wolk Karpf entered their documentary, "Smallpox, Big Difference" at the National History Day State Competition.
Previously on March 3rd, these students had placed first in the regional competition, making them eligible to move on to the state competition
The student filmmakers attended the event this weekend, previewing their documentary for the judges as well as fielding questions in an interview session afterwards. They were assessed based on historical quality, relation to theme (turning points in history), and clarity of presentation.

Competing against nine other documentaries from around the state that had advanced from the regional competition in March, their documentary placed second.
Along with the first place winner, they will now advance on to the 2013 Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest at the University of Maryland in June.
