Mansfield Lumber Company Worker Faces Weapons Charges

A Providence man who works for a Mansfield lumber company faces firearm charges after police say he had three semi-automatic handguns and four ammunition magazines he is not authorized to carry.
Thomas C. Melone, 31 pleaded innocent to carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, four counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device and three counts of improper storage of firearms in Attleboro District Court Monday according to the Sun Chronicle. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
Prosecutors say that no once was threatened by Melone. The Providence man is accused of showing a co-worker a gun and having the weapons in a nylon bag in the cargo area of his Jeep. Police say he is certified to buy weapons in Rhode Island but cannot carry them in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Melone’s attorney Gregory Tinsworth said there was no probable cause to arrest his client.
