Mansfield Man Charged with Assaulting Woman and Child Held in Jail

A Mansfield man who is charged with threatening a woman and her child has been ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing.

David A. Brock, 27, will return to Attleboro District Court Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. for a hearing according to the Sun Chronicle.

According to testimony at his arraignment Friday, the alleged victim and child are friends of Brock’s mother. It is unknown what could have caused the incident.

At around 2:06 p.m., Thursday, police received a 911 call from a female inside an apartment on Francis Avenue. The caller told police that a male, identified as Brock, was in the apartment went after her and her baby with a knife. The caller was able to make it to the balcony of the apartment while Brock was still armed and inside the apartment.

All available Mansfield sector patrol officers responded to the apartment, where they located the female caller and a toddler on the second-floor balcony. Officers were able to secure the perimeter of the building while Sgt. Michael Ellsworth, Officer William Trudell and Officer Matthew Souza made entry into the apartment from the second-floor hall entrance.

Brock was taken into custody at gunpoint and without incident. Police recovered two knives from the apartment that the subject had stashed in the tank of the apartment.
