Mansfield Police Chief Picked for Israel Training Trip

Police Chief Ronald Sellon will travel to the country to receive anti-terrorism training from the Israeli Defense Force.

MANSFIELD, MA — Mansfield's police chief will head to Israel to receive training from their country's military force.

Wednesday, Police Chief Ronald Sellon announced that he was chosen to travel to the country to receive anti-terrorism training from the Israeli Defense Force. Sellon told the selectmen that the 10-day trip is sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League and is an invite-only trip for local law enforcement leaders, including Boston Boston Police Commissioner William Evans.

"They outline what processes they go though as far as how they defend certain areas of the country against terrorism. It was a very humbling moment to be picked," Sellon said. "It came as kind of a surprise."

Because the Anti-Defamation League is the trip's sponsor, the town will not have to cover the cost.

"I'm sure you're going to bring back a lot of good things you can share with your people," Selectmen Chairman Jess Aptowitz said.
