Mansfield's Rhett Wiseman hit a walk-off homer for the Vanderbilt University baseball team Sunday.

Mansfield's Rhett Wiseman, a freshman outfielder on the Vanderbilt University baseball team, hit a walk-off homer Sunday as the 12-1 Commodores defeated the Illinios-Chicago, 3-1 in 10 innings to sweep the three-game series in Nashville, Tenn.
Wiseman was unable to put a sacrifice bunt down twice and then was told to swing away, which he did, clearing the right field fence and landing in the street behind the wall.

"I had to do something for the team to make up for the bunts I missed," said Wiseman on the team's website.
It was the first time in his baseball career that he has ever hit a walk-off home run.

Wiseman has appeared in 11 games, starting once in the outfield. He is batting .267, going for four for 15 for the 12-1 Commodores. Sunday, he went 1-3, pinch-hitting and then serving as the DH.

Vanderbilt returns to action on Tuesday afternoon at Hawkins Field when Eastern Illinois visits at 4 p.m.
