RI Man Used Stolen IDs to Buy Phones in Mansfield, Clothing in Seekonk, and More: Investigators
Reynaldo Martinez, 25, faces 10 charges related to the use of stolen information to purchase tens of thousands of dollars worth of items.

MANSFIELD, MA — A Central Falls, Rhode Island man has been indicted on 10 charges related to the use of stolen information to purchase tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods and services in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Reynaldo Martinez, 25, faces four counts of aggravated identity theft, two counts of access fraud, and one count each of bank fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, attempted access fraud and interstate transportation of stolen goods, according to the U.S. Attorney's office
For the past year, Martinez has used false information to purchase items, according to the indictment. On Dec. 26, he allegedly obtained fake license from Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. That same day he attempted to use one of the licenses and an existing credit line to buy three iPhones from the Sprint Store in Mansfield

This year, he used the IDs to access the credit accounts of others at Sak’s Fifth Avenue in Boston and Kohl’s in Seekonk, using the information to purchase goods.
In addition to iPhones and clothes, prosecutors allege that he used the stolen identities and personal information belonged to individuals from at least nine states to buy furniture, and approximately $14,000 in auto repairs.

Reynaldo Martinez was first charged in this matter by way of a criminal complaint on May 17, 2017. He was arrested on May 24 and ordered detained in federal custody. A federal grand jury returned an indictment in this matter on June 20. The grand jury returned a superseding indictment on Tuesday. Martinez remains detained in federal custody, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
