Teen With Handgun Disarmed By Police
Police said that a post of the teen holding a revolver to his head led to the search.

MANSFIELD, MA — A Mansfield teen who some feared would take his life was recently saved and safely taken into custody.
On Nov. 4 at about 12:01 p.m., police conducted a well-being check after a person reported a post that contained someone that they knew holding a revolver to the side of his head, according to the Mansfield Police Log.
Police were unable to Find the suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, until his father told police that he contacted his son. He was located near a Cumberland Farms and heading home.

When police made contact with the teen, they found a handgun on him. An officer was able to disarm the teen. The juvenile was issued a summons for carrying a firearm without a license and taken to Norwood Hospital.
Online, Police Chief Ronald Sellon described the teen as mentally unstable and praised the officer's work in safely disarming him.
