Shabby chic has always been the theme at, but at the new location on Pleasant Street, it seems as though it has matured. Celebrating 10 years of business, it has evolved into a "beachy chic" atmosphere.

"My design goal was to have our clients feel comfortable... like they are visiting our home. They really are our extended family," said spa owner Kerry Callahan.

One new feature of the salon is the technique of feather hair extensions. But, it's not the usual technique that you have been accustomed to seeing. Callahan uses her talents in jewelry making to create wonderful leather cords with beads and feathers. They are simply fastened with a "crimp" and can be washed.

"A 'Boho' chic sort of style," Callahan said. "I like to call it Pocahontas meets boho chic."

One of the most decadent treatments offered at La Belle Femme is called a Shirodara Treatment with Intuitive Massage.

This treatment is known to purify, nourish and strengthen the body on a deep, cellular level. It enhances circulation, opens blocked energy channels and promotes detoxification.

A copper pot is suspended from the ceiling and drips warm oil onto your forehead, or your "third eye." The clients "Dosha" determines the type of oil that is used. A simple survey is used to figure out your Dosha.

The oil is massaged into the hair and scalp that staff says, leaves you with a "botanical like" glow. Clients are also massaged head-to-toe, wrapped in a cocoon of warm blankets and finished with rose water infused cloths to cover the eyes.
