Accused Marblehead Coach's Mom Charged With Witness Intimidation

The mother of the youth hockey coach accused of child rape allegedly sent the mother of one his accusers a threatening message.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The mother of a youth hockey coach accused of child rape has been charged after allegedly sending a threatening message to the mother of one his accusers. Louise Martino, 55, of Winthrop pleaded not guilty to one count of intimidation of a witness in Lynn District Court Monday.

Martino's son, Christopher Prew, was arraigned last week in Salem Superior Court on one count of aggravated rape of a child and four counts of indecent assault & battery on a child under 14. Prew, 31, has a hearing set for Friday for whether he will be released on conditions or herald without bail.

A mother of one of Prew's accusers said she received a threatening message from Martino on social media following Prew's detention hearing Thursday. Marblehead Police obtained an arrest warrant Friday, and Martino turned herself in Saturday.

A judge agreed to prosecutors' request that Martino not have any contact with the victims or families, not post anything derogatory about them on social media, and refrain from abusing alcohol.
