First responders to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept.11 terrorist attacks (marbleheadweeklynews.com) β Marblehead's Fire and Police Departments are inviting residents to a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Memorial Park on September 11, 2026, at 10 a.m. The gathering will honor lives lost and first responders' sacrifices, while giving the community a chance to reflect together 25 years after the attacks.

Municipal light board selected their newest member (marbleheadweeklynews.com) β Marblehead's Municipal Light Board Committee has chosen longtime resident and management science professional Kathleen Waslov to fill a vacant seat. After 42 years in town and a career in high-level risk analysis, she says she's eager to apply her decision-science skills to help guide the town's municipal light operations and will be sworn in before the September meeting.

3. Marblehead police chief intends to retire in spring (marbleheadcurrent.org) β Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King has told the Select Board he plans to retire when his contract ends on June 30, 2027, giving the town about a year to plan a transition. His announcement follows several other key departures in town government this year, signaling a significant changing of the guard in Marblehead's leadership ranks.

Marblehead Youth Baseball all-stars stand out on the national stage at Cooperstown (marbleheadcurrent.org) β Marblehead's 12-year-old Youth Baseball all-stars just wrapped a memorable week in Cooperstown, reaching the Round of 32 against teams from across the country. Coaches say the trip capped years of playing together, highlighted by tight games against top-ranked opponents and a home run derby run, while also teaching the players lasting lessons about teamwork, resilience, and handling adversity.
