Caller Not-So Gently Suggests Road Race Traffic Pattern to Police

Also a report of a man yelling at runners.

By almost all accounts, this Saturday’s Wicked Half Marathon that ran through Salem and Marblehead was a fantastic event for runners and spectators alike.

However, Marblehead police had to deal with at least one or two folks who weren’t all that happy with the delays caused by the race on Saturday morning.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., an anonymous, furious man called police called the station with some suggestions for the police.

“He said that he had things to accomplish today and he could not do them because he was stuck in traffic.” the Marblehead police log stated. “He indicated how the detail for the road race should be conducted, by alternating runners and then traffic. He went on to say he had to get to the Farmers Market so he could make money and said the situation was “bull****.”

The caller apparently didn’t want to take any credit for his well-thought out traffic solutions, as police said he refused to leave his name and wanted to know who in the police department was responsible for allowing and operating this situation.

Shortly after the traffic suggestion phone call, a police detail reported that there was a man in an orange shirt yelling at runners at Pleasant and Devereaux Streets causing a disturbance.

One of the officers spotted the man and was able to calm him down. It was not reported if he was upset with the traffic or angry with runners in general.
