Car Windows Smashed in Marblehead and Nearby

Marblehead police received three reports on Thursday morning of motor vehicle break-ins, two of which involved smashed windows

 

Police received two reports Thursday morning of rear windows being smashed on vehicles, and a third report of a breaking and entering to a car.

The incidents follow a rash of midweek, overnight break-ins — 14 in two days — in Swampscott. Some of the car windows' were smashed in these break-ins, as well.

The Marblehead window smashings took place on Humphrey Street and Village Street. The other breaking and entering took place on Cedar Street. A GPS was stolen.

We asked Marblehead police Chief Robert Picariello what he recommends residents do to try to prevent their vehicles from being targeted.

The police chief said people should lock their cars and take all their valuables inside such as gps's, laptops, money, handbags etc.

He also recommended that residents call police if they hear or see anything unusual.
