Confronting Abuse in Later Life Kickoff

The Kickoff for the CALL-NS (Confronting Abuse in Later Life - North Shore) grant is set for October 8.

Danvers MA: The kickoff for the CALL-NS (Confronting Abuse in Later Life – North Shore) grant, which was awarded to North Shore Elder Services by the Department of Justice, will be held on Thursday October 8, 2015, from 8:30am to 12:30pm at North Shore Elder Services, 300 Rosewood Drive, Danvers, MA.

The purpose of this grant is to provide training for professionals responding to abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of people 50 or older. Janice Green, Senior Program Specialist at the Department. of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, Bonnie Brandl, executive director of NCALL (National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life) and Tara Patet, Senior Prosecutor of St. Paul, MN City Attorney’s office will be the trainers facilitating this multidisciplinary, interactive discussion to enhance the current response to elder abuse.

Professionals from a wide range of disciplines (home care, health, mental health, law enforcement, prosecution, housing, financial institutions, disability services, faith communities, domestic violence and sexual assault advocates, residential, long term care, LGBT and culturally specific programs, Councils on Aging, attorneys, aging and protective services) are invited to join us for this exciting event. The experience of Verbalee, will be used to facilitate discussion. “The kickoff will help participants understand the importance of collaborating across disciplines when responding to elder abuse,” states North Shore Elder Services CALL-NS project coordinator, Candace Waldron.
