Eagle Scout Project will Benefit Fire Department

Boy Scouts will be working in town this weekend.

Local Boy Scouts will be out in force this weekend, working on a project that will benefit the Marblehead Fire Department.

Fire Chief Jason Gilliland and Water & Sewer Department Superintendent Amy McHugh are excited to announce a project which will help firefighters working with hydrants during fires.

This Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., there will be five groups of five Boy Scouts each, along with adult chaperones, working on Marblehead Neck and areas along Atlantic Avenue painting fire hydrants.

This project will help the fire department to know with just a quick glance the size of the underground water main feeding the hydrant and what hose to use.

So if you are out and about this Saturday, watch for the Scouts – they will be wearing T-Shirts identifying them as working on the project.
