Trouble The Dog Children's Character to Bring Comfort to Children in Local Hospitals, Thanks to Loving Memory of Frank Camarda

Jeannine and Paul Camarda, founders of the Frank Camarda Golf Tournament, today announced that a portion of proceeds raised from this year’s tournament will directly benefit children receiving care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital. The tournament will take place on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Far Corners golf course, 5 Barker Road in Boxford, Mass. To register or sponsor the tournament, you can pick up forms at The Three Cod Tavern, 141 Pleasant Street in Marblehead or on the website at www.frankcamardaopen.com or you can contact: Paul Camarda: padramac@msn.com or Jeannine Camarda: JCamarda53@gmail.com.
This year marks the 4th anniversary of this great tournament which was created in loving memory of long-time Marblehead resident, Frank Camarda and his love of life and the game of golf. The Camarda family grew up in Marblehead and many local residents and business owners play in the tournament year after year, including longtime family friend, Chip Percy, owner of The Three Cod Tavern. “Frank had a larger than life presence and was a very giving person,” said Percy. “He would be happy to know that this tournament is bringing the community together, while helping kids have hope in their fight against cancer.”
“We started this tournament to keep Frank’s loving spirit alive,” said Jeannine and Paul Camarda. “Our brother had a great life with wonderful parents, family, friends and associates. He was charismatic, warm, and kindhearted with an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up a room. Frank would be so proud to know that we are working with Sheila Duncan and Trouble The Dog to keep his legacy of love alive, bringing smiles to children receiving care at Dana-Farber and Boston Children’s Hospital. He touched so many hearts and will continue to do so through this wonderful program.”
The donation of handcrafted Trouble The Dog plush toys and beautifully illustrated children’s books for Dana-Farber and Boston Children’s Hospital is being made possible through Sheila Duncan, President of Latkin LTD. Sheila Duncan is the well-known author of the children’s book: “Here’s Trouble!” and the co-creator of the loveable character, Trouble The Dog (www.troublethedog.net) Together, Sheila and Trouble have soothed hundreds of children facing stressful situations - including cancer and leukemia, abuse and poverty. Sheila has brought Trouble The Dog to visit with children in hospitals across the country, bringing large donations to Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston, Children’s Miracle Network, Hasbro Children’s Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House. Sheila created Trouble The Dog to comfort children experiencing “trouble” in their lives. Trouble has been applauded by CNN as a “socially conscious toy”, by MSNBC as a “comfort toy” and by The Boston Herald as a needed therapy dog.
