'Hate Ends Now' Holocaust Exhibit Coming To Marblehead, Swampscott

The traveling exhibit includes a 30-foot "cattle car" replica of the type of container used to bring Jews to death camps in Eastern Europe.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The "Hate Ends Now" exhibit — which includes a 30-foot long "cattle car" replica of the type of wooden container used to bring Jews to death camps in Eastern Europe during the holocaust — will be making stops in Marblehead and Swampscott in the next two weeks.

The exhibit, which was previously at Salem State University and St. John's Prep, includes holograms of two survivors who explain how they were forced into the container with more than 100 other people and taken on days-long trips to Nazi concentration camps such as Auschwitz.

The Hate Ends Now exhibit is set to be at Marblehead High School on Monday and Tuesday and then at Swampscott High School from May 15 to May 18.

Swampscott students will attend the program during the day when the campus is closed to the public. Residents are invited to attend the program on May 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The 360-degree multi-media educational exhibit inside the cattle car as part of the tour aimed at encouraging conversations about genocide and indifference, inspiring involvement in preventing hate crimes and promoting unity.

Hate Ends Now is a collaboration between ShadowLight and NCSY (National Conference of Synagogue Youth).

Tours are free and open to the public.

The tours last about 21 minutes with about 25 people able to fit in the car at any one time.
