Here's Your Chance To Get An Insider's Look At Marblehead Police
The Citizens Academy includes tours, discussions and instruction on how police work is done.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead police are holding a new session of their Citizens Police Academy starting Jan. 7.
Applications are now being accepted for the academy with instruction from patrol officers, detectives, 911 dispatchers and ranking officers. There will be candid discussions about why officers joined the police force, training, equipment use, traffic enforcement and investigative techniques.
The course will include tours of Lynn District Court, the Essex County Sheriff's Department Jail, the Regional Police Academy in Reading and the Marblehead Police Station.

Lt. Dave Ostrovitz is organizing the course, sponsored by the Marblehead Council on Aging.
The course will run every Friday morning from 9 a.m. to noon for eight weeks and is open to all residents 18 years old or older.

Applicants must be willing to submit to a Criminal Offender Record Information and driving history search.
"This is your chance to ask those burning questions that you have never asked but would like to know the answers for," police said.
Up to 20 applicants will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
