Lethal 'Oxycodone' Pills on North Shore Actually Fentanyl: Police
Police on the North Shore issued a warning for lethal fentanyl pills being marketed as oxycodone.
SALEM, MA — Salem police this week warned residents of counterfeit "oxycodone" pills containing lethal doses of fentanyl that may be in the Salem area.
Police are informing residents of a counterfeit form of oxycodone (percocet) that is in fact fentanyl. Police added that the counterfeit pills contain lethal doses.
Capt. Conrad Prosniewski of the Salem Police Department told Patch that the pills look identical to a standard oxycodone or a percocet pill.
"They look identical to the real thing," Prosniewski said.

Residents are urged to doubt the legitimacy of such pills unless the medication is prescribed by a physician.
Prosniewski also added that police had heard through law enforcement circles that the pills may be in the Salem area, and that the pills are believed to be coming in from China.
