Man Smashes Display at Local Convenience Store

Wednesday, Jan. 14

At 8:19 a.m., a caller reported a town-owned truck, possibly a tree or trash truck, going the wrong way down street that is one-way during school hours.

At 10:08 a.m., a caller reported an issue at a neighbor’s house while the neighbor was away. Police arrived and found a major water issue. The fire department shut off gas, electric and water and the homeowner was contacted.

At 10:41 a.m., a caller reported seeing a home’s sump pump sending water out of the home and causing a hazard.

At 11:20 a.m., a caller reported a purple leopard wallet missing after an evening at Riptide. She said the bartender told her a known thief was at Riptide that night and she should report the missing wallet to police.

At 2:38 p.m., a complaint came in about a woman blocking the entrance to the Rec Center/COA as she waited in the queue at Marblehead High School. She eventually moved her vehicle and was told by police to not block the entrance again.

Thursday, Jan. 15

At 4:08 a.m., a robbery was reported at the 7-11 on Pleasant Street. See Police Investigating Overnight Convenience Store Robbery for more info.

At 7:57 a.m., a man came into a convenience store on Pleasant Street and purchased cigarettes. He then asked for matches. The shopkeeper told the customer the store didn’t have matches and the customer smashed a display of lighters in response.

At 8:41 a.m., a woman reported being suspicious of a locksmith she’d hired to come to her house the night before.

At 9:55 a.m., a scam phone call was reported.

At 11:56 a.m., a person reported having received a scam phone call in the last couple of weeks.

At 5:07 p.m., a woman reported her credit card had been used fraudulently.

At 5:54 p.m., a person reported a man in a gray hoodie knocked on the door repeatedly, but the caller did not answer. The man left.

At 7:26 p.m., a caller reported an SUV doing “donuts” in the parking lot behind Star of the Sea.
