Marblehead Annual Hydrant Flushing Begins This Week
Work will begin at the Swampscott and Salem borders late Sunday night and travel to the downtown area each night.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead's annual hydrant flushing program will begin late Sunday night and will last through next week across the town.
Flushing is set to begin at 11 p.m. on Sunday and take place between midnight and 7 a.m. each day.
Work will begin at the Swampscott and Salem borders and travel to the downtown area. Residents may notice water flowing from some hydrants during the day.

Some residents may also experience discolored water early in the morning.
If that is the case, run the water cold in the kitchen sink until it clears — which could take about 20 minutes. Refrain from doing laundry until the discoloration is gone.
