MARBLEHEAD, MA — Dozens of volunteers spanned out across the beaches and parks of the North Shore for a cleanup effort this weekend as well as an informational session on the harm posed by plastics that find their way into the ocean.

The volunteers from the Marblehead-based SPUR were out at beaches and parks in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott. Many of the volunteers then joined the Sustainable Marblehead events on the dangers of ocean plastics and other ways that residents can be good stewards of the environment.

The day was capped with some free ice from Scoop by Sea Salt.
