Marblehead Police Start Tweeting
MPD entered the social media arena on Twitter Monday, reaching out to the public in a new way.

The venture into the world of social media offers another tool to communicate, to inform people about everything from parking to police news.

The department already has an app — mypd — which can be accessed on Google Marketplace or the iPhone app store.
Twitter, like reverse 911, is another line of communication to the public.

For now, as the department takes its first steps into Twitter-land, the chief will be the lone tweeter.
But he foresees a time, once the account is established, when others in the department join the tweeting, making the conversation 24/7.
Entering the conversation made sense, the chief said.
“I think it is where people are,” the police chief said.
