Marblehead Resident receives Maestro Award at Heritage National Music Festival in New York City

On April 24th, 23 members of the Bishop Fenwick choral groups performed in New York City at the annual Heritage National Music Festival. At the competition, they earned a number of accolades, including three Maestro Awards for solo performances, three Gold/Superior ratings for group performances and the Spirit of New York Award.

Marblehead resident and Bishop Fenwick junior Paige Vigneron was awarded a Maestro Award for her solo performance and participated with both the Concert Choir and Select Choir in their gold award performances. In addition, both the Concert Choir and Select Choir received invitations to the Heritage Festival of Gold in 2016 at Carnegie Hall, where they will participate in clinics with internationally-known adjudicators and join outstanding ensembles from across the nation to perform in this world-renowned venue.

According to Fenwick’s Choral Director, Dr. Kellie Tropeano “I couldn’t be more proud of our Bishop Fenwick Students. Not only did they sing their best, but they behaved with professionalism and decorum, showing the utmost respect to the other performers and adjudicators. I’m most proud that our school received the one “Spirit of New York” award. Out of 25+ schools, the judges chose one school which really embodied the spirit of the competition and showed a cooperative attitude throughout the weekend. The students represented Bishop Fenwick well and they deserve to be congratulated.”

Performing from Bishop Fenwick were the Mens’ Chorus, the all-female Select Chorus and the mixed voice Concert Choir. All three groups were awarded Gold/Superior Ratings. Over 1,000 high school students competed at the festival. Ten Maestro Awards were presented, with three of them going to Fenwick students. In addition to Vigneron, Fenwick recipients of the Maestro Awards were Kevin Barnum, a senior from Beverly, Lauren Page a senior from Tewksbury.
