Marblehead Police Capture Suspect After Telling Residents to Stay Inside

Police were searching for a suspect who fled a traffic stop. He went to the hospital "to receive the help he needs," police said.

A suspect who fled a traffic stop and was the subject of a late-night search was captured, Marblehead Police said.

"The person has been located and is going to the hospital to receive the help he needs," police wrote on Facebook.

There was a large state and local police presence in the area of Commercial Street and Walnut Street as authorities searched for the suspect. Police asked residents to remain inside while they searched for the subject. Police were also asking residents to keep their dogs inside as police K9 units were active.

Things started when a resident told they spotted a "suspicious person" in the Lincoln Avenue area, police said. The tip, please air support, "made the difference in locating this person so he could be helped."
