Negotiations Over Contaminated Land Continue
Homeowners affected by contamination from the landfill are negotiating a settlement with the town.

The Board of Health, Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Tony Sasso and Town Counsel Lisa Mead continued negotiations in Executive Session Tuesday night with near the landfill.
Tests have shown that the runoff from the landfill has contaminated the soil on their private property. The town is negotiating compensation with the homeowners.
When asked to describe the state of the negotiations, Board of Health Director Wayne Attridge said only that, “They are tender.”

The negotiations will likely lead to another article for the voters to consider at the Town Meeting. Last year, similar negotiations with That article was also approved by Town Meeting, but defeated in the override vote.
