As the September weeks flew by and Marblehead’s community transitioned into fall, the Marblehead Arts Association (MAA) was hard at work on installing their two new photography exhibits. While photography as a fine art is a relatively new concept, the MAA has a long standing tradition of working with and including photography and photography members in its exhibits. This October brings the Members Black and White Photography Exhibit, as well as invited artist and nationally acclaimed photographer, Rick Ashley’s “Marblehead Horribles Parade” Exhibit to hang in its halls.

On the first Sunday of October, the MAA welcomed in approximately 75 guests to come in from the crisp air to view the two exhibits on their opening day.
Attendees were greeted with wine and appetizers, as well as prosecco and cake later on to bid farewell to Executive Director, Kristine Fisher who is moving on.
The first floor of the King Hooper Mansion is dedicated to the Members Black and White Photography Exhibit. The Parlor, Dining Room, and Hendrick Galleries are each filled with approximately 15 pieces and guests were invited to walk through the gallery spaces in order to view the art.
Upstairs on the third floor, Rick Ashley’s exhibit is installed in the Ballroom gallery. During the opening reception, children ran excitedly through the ballroom, pointing out to their families which photos they were in. Rick immediately recognized which children were in certain photos and which kids he had photographed in the parade years ago.
