North Shore Center for Hoarding & Cluttering Offers an Array of Supportive Services

North Shore Center for Hoarding & Cluttering provides support to those struggling with issues of excessive clutter.

Danvers, MA. The North Shore Center for Hoarding & Cluttering (NSCHC) at North Shore Elder Services(NSES) is the leader in providing a support system for those who are feeling overwhelmed by the “stuff” in their life. Many of us periodically reach a point where we need to simplify, organize and de-clutter. Sometimes we cannot do it alone and need some help in meeting this challenge; that’s when the North Shore Center for Hoarding & Cluttering can offer assistance.

Marnie McDonald, MSW, LCSW, is the Clinical Specialist at the NSCHC who developed the program in 2012 while interning at NSES as a graduate student at Salem State University.

“When clutter affects you at work, home, or in your relationships, when your clutter creates safety issues in your home, or when you are embarrassed to have people in your home, it is an indicator that the problem is more serious. Hoarding is an outward manifestation of internal commotion and whether triggered by trauma, loss, or heredity, it is rarely resolved on its own” states Marnie McDonald.
