North Shore Civic Ballet Names Acclaimed Photographer to Board of Trustees
The North Shore Civic Ballet welcomes Peter A. Smith, a faculty member at Boston University, to the board of trustees.

The North Shore Civic Ballet (NSCB), a nonprofit dance company based at the Marblehead School of Ballet in Marblehead, Massachusetts, announces acclaimed photographer, Peter A. Smith, has been named to the board of trustees. Smith won a Pulitzer Prize in a team award at the Eagle Tribune in North Andover, Massachusetts for a series of stories.
"Peter Smith, historically, has taken high quality pictures of the dancers. We welcome him back to the fold," said Judy Moynihan, member, NSCB board of trustees.
Smith is the founder and chief executive officer of Headshots Photography, a photo agency with offices in Manchester, New Hampshire and Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston University's College of Communications and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Photojournalism on the faculty.

Among his photographic work, Smith specializes in portraits of world leaders, including Benazir Bhutto, Alexander Haig, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Antonin Scalia. Photo exhibitions have included Dancer, a one-person show at the Salem Art Colloquium, and Photography Dance Performance, a three-person show at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University's Broadway Gallery in New York City.
He has contributed to several service projects. Notably, he started a program at the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Massachusetts to assist Boston University students teaching photography to high school students with complete hearing loss.

The NSCB has provided performances and arts education to the Greater Boston community for more than 30 years. Artistic Director Paula K. Shiff and Associate Director Florence C. Whipple founded the company in 1974. The ballet company is home to an ever-changing group of talented dancers made up of both seasoned professionals and aspiring young dancers. For 11 years, Ivan Korn, resident choreographer, has created several works for the organization.
