North Shore Civic Ballet's Scholarship Program Accepting Applications
The North Shore Civic Ballet's scholarship program is now accepting applications from rising dancers to study ballet.
For more than 40 years, the North Shore Civic Ballet (NSCB) has provided performances, arts education, and support to aspiring dancers. The NSCB’s scholarship program is accepting applications from aspiring dancers, ages 12 to 21, who are interested in studying ballet at the Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB), located at 115 Pleasant Street, in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Applications may be submitted on a rolling basis.
The NSCB, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt dance company, and the MSB are committed to assisting students interested and dedicated to pursuing dance studies without financial barriers.
“We want to help dancers achieve their potential and invite them to apply to the scholarship program,” said Paula K. Shiff, Artistic Director. Shiff, the recipient of Salem State University’s 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts, trained at the Boston Ballet and in New York and performed with the Boston Ballet Company.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need, as well as a genuine passion and talent for dance. An application form must be completed and an audition performed at the school. Award recipients are expected to make the dance class schedule a priority, while maintaining average or above average grades in school. Consistent attendance and participation are expected in every class.
The Ruth N. Shiff Memorial Fund provides partial support for the scholarship program. This summer, the Fund supported a limited number of merit-based scholarships for aspiring dancers to attend the MSB’s 2015 Summer Dance Intensive Program.
