North Shore Fisherman Presumed Drowned

GLOUCESTER, MA — The Coast Guard on Wednesday suspended a search for a fisherman who was swept out to sea Tuesday at Rafes Chasm Park in Gloucester.

The man, identified as Manoel Desoza, was fishing at the rocks at Rafes Chasm Park Tuesday when he fell in at about 2:50 p.m., the Coast Guard said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coast Guard at 617-223-3201.

Another man fishing with Desoza also fell in but made it back to shore, according to the Coast Guard.

Rafes Chasm Park is a popular fishing spot and the weather Tuesday was favorable, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s.
