Pleon Yacht Club still has some openings in its summer keelboat classes for young sailors ages 12 and up. Spaces are available for the full summer or a single four-week session. Sailed in stable, comfortable Sonars with three to five sailors in a boat, these classes are for kids with some sailing experience or those new to sailing. The emphasis is on developing boat handling and seamanship skills that provide a foundation for higher performance dinghy sailing or confident recreational boating.
Pleon summer Session I takes place June 21-July 21. Session II runs from July 31-August 18. Full summer includes both sessions. Detailed information and online registration for Pleon summer programs can be found at www.pleon.org.
The purpose of Pleon Yacht Club of Marblehead, one of the oldest junior yacht clubs in the country, is to involve as many young people as possible in the sport of sailing in a fun, educational atmosphere.
