Police: Suspicious Markings and Suspicious Bags

Excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department log.

Tuesday, Sept. 1

At 8:08 a.m., a woman on a bike reported that someone had painted swastikas on Chestnut Street. After investigation, police found that they were not swastikas but markings for a water and sewer project.

At 11:40 a.m., a water meter reading device was reported lost in the area of Ocean Avenue.

At 5:59 p.m., a caller reported being concerned about an unattended bag left inside a gate on Washington Street. The caller believed it may have belonged to someone doing some gardening work on the property. The bag was found not to be suspicious and contained water and grapes.

At 9:53 p.m, there was a two car accident on West Shore Drive. Police arrested Peter Stone, 33, of 158 Jersey Street, #1 in Marblehead and charged him with the negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
