Rainy Forecast Postpones Marblehead's World Oceans Day To Next Week

Sustainable Marblehead's third annual event has been moved to June 11.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Sustainable Marblehead's third World Oceans Day showcasing green marine technology and plans for the future of Marblehead Harbor was pushed back a week because of the rain forecast for Sunday.

The event will now be held on June 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the State Street Landing.

"In a community like Marblehead, where the harbor defines so much of our history, quality of life, and why we choose to live here, we have an obligation to protect, enhance, and make sustainable our greatest resource for future generations,” said Rob Howie, a member of the Marblehead Harbor Plan Working Group, Sailors for the Sea Skipper for Marblehead, and a board member of Sustainable Marblehead.

The delayed event is still set to include the CW Hood all-electric, high-speed motorboat.

The town's Harbor Plan working group committee members will be on-site to highlight key goals for Marblehead Harbor, including adding electric charging stations, increasing public access, addressing climate change and other plans for the future of the harbor.

Sustainable Marblehead is a non-profit community organization working to educate and engage the Marblehead community to reduce waste and pollution and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 204.
