Second Annual Rally for Allie Beach Volleyball Tournament Coming Aug. 1
The event is held in memory of Allie Castner, killed while walking in a crosswalk in Marblehead six years ago.

The Second Annual Rally 4 Allie Beach Volleyball Tournament is coming to Devereux Beach on Saturday, Aug. 1.
The event is a fundraiser in memory of Allie Castner who was killed six years ago in walking in a crosswalk in Marblehead. She was 15.
Since the tragedy, Castner’s family have worked to remind people to “Slow down for Allie,” a slogan seen on bumper stickers around town, and raise money for the “You Hold My World” Scholarship Fund, which awards an annual scholarship.

“To keep her spunky personality and high energy spirit alive her friends came to me with the idea of a beach volleyball tournament to commemorate the five-year anniversary of her passing,” Castner’s older sister, Lia, said about getting the event started last year.
The inaugural event in 2014 raised $12,000 for the scholarship fund as more than 70 participants signed up to compete.
