Son of Sculptor to Give Talk at MAA
John Seamans will discuss the work of his mother, Beverly Seamans on Thursday evening.

As part of the ongoing Beverly Seamans exhibit at the Marblehead Arts Association, her son, John Seamans is presenting a talk about his mother’s work on Thursday evening.
Seamans will shares the story of his mother’s inspiration and process with fellow artists and patrons. He will also refer to examples of her work showcased in her exhibit in the Ballroom Gallery.
The talk is on Thursday, August 27 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Ballroom Gallery of the historic King Hooper Mansion on Hooper Street.

The Seamans exhibitions runs through Sept. 27, along with an exhibition of works by local artists Louren Doucette, Caroline May, Sheila Farren Billings, Martin Whitkin, Janet Albert, Holly Chin, Elaine Caliri Daly, Susan Kauder, Barbara Rafferty, and Polly Maxon Tritschler.

Seamans (1928-2012) was a beloved Marblehead sculptor and a granddaughter of noted marine painter John P. Benson and the great niece of American Impressionist painter and printmaker Frank W. Benson.
She belonged to the Copley Society of Boston and was a fellow of the National Sculptor Society in New York City. She had a successful career as an artist here on the North Shore and her work has become internationally known.
Her work is in many private collections and such public collections as Beverly Hospital, Wellesley College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
