Swampscott Resident New Executive Director of Marblehead SPUR

Lynne Krasker Shultz will lead the North Shore community non-profit as founder Jocelyn Cook focuses on development and fundraising.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Swampscott resident Lynne Krasker Shultz will guide the Marblehead-based community nonprofit SPUR as its new executive director.

The organization — whose mission is to create volunteer opportunities for North Shore residents to make an impact in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott — said Krasker Shultz will take over for founder Jocelyn Cook, who is remaining on the Board of Directors and will focus her efforts on fundraising and development.

Krasker Shultz has 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector with a focus on programming, marketing and fundraising. She has a history of building nonprofits through aligning their missions with audiences, community needs and programs.

"Lynne's experience scaling non-profit programs and her energetic, positive leadership style will help SPUR continue to strengthen and expand the ways that we support our community," Board Chair Jackie Mongiello said. "The Board of Directors and I are excited to have Lynne on board and help SPUR continue to grow to the next level."

She was previously the Director of Public Programming and Community Engagement at Boston's Center for Jewish Culture and founded the young adult arts and culture initiative Prism (now call JArts).

"I am excited to work with the board and volunteers to launch SPUR into its next stage of development and expansion," Krasker Shultz said. "SPUR is about engaging people living in our community to make a measurable impact within the community through volunteer opportunities.

"In addition to mobilizing volunteers, we are going to think about how to be a convener and collaborator, as well as deepen people’s connection to each other."
