Vandals Break Into Marblehead School, Tear Down Student Artwork
Marblehead police said a group of adults broke into Veterans Middle School and tore down student artwork.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — A group of young adults broke into the Marblehead Veterans Middle School Saturday morning and vandalized the place — tearing down student artwork, knocking down signs, and stealing visitor passes, according to police.
The four vandals tripped a burglar alarm, alerting officers who caught two of them at the scene, police said. Those suspects were identified as 19-year-olds Ty Urlich and Casen Sullivan, who were charged with trespassing and breaking and entering. Police did not release the names of the other suspects.
The other two suspects escaped but police said they identified them and charges are pending. All suspects were charged with breaking and entering and trespassing. Police said they gained access to the building through a window.

"A representative from the school system was brought to the scene and together with an officer they entered the building," Marblehead police said in a statement. "What they found was disappointing! The suspects had entered five lockers, made entry into the main office and tore down students art projects and knocked down several signs and books. They also left muddy footprints behind. Stolen and recovered from the school was a roll of school 'stick-on visitor passes.'”

Police said the alarm system likely prevented further damage.
"Had it not been for a functioning alarm system ... along with the rapid arrival and keen eye of the officers, there is no telling the damage that could have been done inside the school," police said.
