A Special Veterans Day for WWII Vets
The Board of Selectmen discussed plans to honor local World War II Veterans and their spouses at their meeting Wednesday night.

Local veterans agent David Rodgers appeared before the Board of Selectmen at their meeting Wednesday night in an effort to track down any remaining World War II veterans or their spouses.
This year's Veterans Day service, scheduled to be held at on the morning of Nov. 11, will feature a special salute to members of the "Greatest Generation," who will be honored with a commemorative gift.
Rodgers said he has received a great response from the community so far and was pleased to report that he had contacted some 30 local residents who either served or were married to someone who served in the war.

Special seating will be reserved for honorees at the service, Rodgers said, and the and the local have arranged to have a shuttle service from the bank's parking lot to Abbot Hall.
"It should be a very special day that will be made just a little more special for them," Rodgers said.

The event will also feature singing from members of the chorus and board member James Nye hinted that something special for the veterans may be in the works for the Magicians' football game against Beverly.
World War II Veterans or their surviving spouses who would like to receive this gift are asked to call the Veterans Office at 781-631-0990 as soon as possible.
