WARNING: Unfortunate situation at Riverhead Beach

Hi All,

Please note this has already been reported to the Marblehead Police, but I felt inclined to let more folks know: Early evening, on Sunday August 25th my dog and I were enjoying the last moments of the day frolicking and playing fetch on Riverhead Beach. It was low tide and another young dog came to play with us.

Unfortunately our fun time was cut short by a Grey Pickup dumping the contents you see in the photo. Short rib bones, lobster shells, and corn cobs. These items are VERY DANGEROUS, and potentially DEADLY to all dogs that frequent this area. Although we were a distance out on the tide, our Dogs picked up on the scent and ran for the discarded waste before we could get there.

It took me a few moments to realize the severity of the situation. After prying a sharp short rib bone from my dogs mouth, we immediately had to leave - ruining our evening.

This was not only a careless, disgusting act for someone to discard of their lobster boil remnants, but very dangerous, potentially malicious toward dogs. I'm ashamed that this occurred here, and embarrassed our time with our new dog friend had to be cut so short by someone's thoughtlessness.

If anyone has any additional information please contact the Marblehead Police department.

Thank you.
