5 Things You need to Know Today: June 14
The School Committee is looking to cut a cool million, the Relay for Life has a new date and some underweight kittens need your help making glop.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.
1. The School Committee will try to figure out how to close a $1 million budget gap for fiscal year 2013 when it meets in a budget session at 2 p.m. in the District Education Center. Superintendent Anthony Pope is expected to make recommendations for cuts and has said “everything will be on the table.”
2. Bad weather forced the postponement of the Hudson/Marlborough Relay for LIfe walk. The event has been rescheduled to Friday, June 22 at 5 p.m. at Ghiloni Park. That means more time to show your support for signing up to help fight cancer.
3. Cat Rescue of Hudson and Marlborough reports it has had a influx of 30 kittens recently, many of them signifcantly underweight. The organization is seeking donations of evaporated milk and unflavored gelatin--two key ingredients of the "glop" the kittens are fed to fatten them up. In Marlborough, donations can be dropped off at Pet Source, 141 Boston Post Rd. W.
4. A tip of the (graduation) cap to Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School for an impressive presentation of its graduating class on its Web site. Every grad's photo is posted--in full tassel and gown mode--and there's also an extensive gallery of candid shots from the commencement.
5. Happy Flag Day. And a Happy 237th birthday to the U.S. Army.
