A Weekend of Shakespeare

Kevin Dugan of Marlborough will play Decius Brutus in an upcoming performance of Julius Caesar.

This weekend, forego another formulaic action or chick flick movie at the movie theater. Come out and support local high school kids as they perform the play Julius Caesar at the Shrewsbury campus of Saint John’s High School.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday Feb. 10 - 12 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13.

For four evenings, folks have the opportunity to experience one of Shakespeare’s famous works while supporting Marlborough’s very own Kevin Dugan as he plays the role of Decius Brutus. Dugan is a senior at Saint John’s.

“I don’t think people have changed in 2,000 years,” said John Deedy, the play’s director and an English teacher at St. John’s. “You have some leaders who are maniacal, who are self-absorbed … you have other politicians who might have the best intentions to serve but just aren’t capable of serving.”

Tickets cost $7 and are available at the school’s bookstore or by emailing Deedy at jdeedy@stjohnshigh.org. Tickets will also be sold at the door, but it is recommended to purchase them ahead of time. Saint John’s campus is located at 378 Main Street in Shrewsbury.
