Active Coronavirus Cases In Marlborough Edging Up
Marlborough had 30 active cases on Monday, the highest level in more than a month.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The number of active coronavirus cases in Marlborough rose to a July high of 30 on Monday, a level not seen since around late June.
Active cases dropped to 10 on July 16, a low not seen since late April. But active cases have been steadily rising, reaching 22 on July 22 and 24 on July 24. Active cases peaked in Marlborough at about 269 in mid-May.
Marlborough began the month with 19 active cases and 988 total cases. The total number of cases reached 1,027 on Monday. One positive sign: Marlborough has not seen any new COVID-19 deaths since the week of July 6. The total stood at 65 on Monday.

Cases across Massachusetts are also ticking up. On Monday, the statewide seven-day average positive test rate grew to 1.9 percent. The state began July with a 2 percent positive test rate, which dropped to about 1.7 percent by the middle of the month. Massachusetts Medical Society President David Rosman has suggested the state revert to phase 2 of the reopening plan due to the rise in cases.
