MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough’s newest grocery store is set to officially open later this month.
Shaw’s will open its new location at 193 Boston Post Road West on Friday, May 22, according to RK Centers, the operator of the shopping plaza, which announced the opening in a recent social media post.
The supermarket chain also shared an updated announcement on April 30 confirming the store would be opening soon.
The new Shaw’s will take over the former Hannaford space. Hannaford closed the Marlborough location in September after the company was not given the opportunity to renew its lease at the shopping center, according to a company spokesperson.
Shaw’s is one of New England’s largest supermarket chains, operating about 150 stores across the region, including 54 locations in Massachusetts. Nearby stores include locations in Shrewsbury, Sudbury, Worcester and Boston.
In addition to in-store shopping, the Marlborough location will offer online grocery ordering through Shaw’s DriveUp & Go pickup service and home delivery options, according to the company’s website.
The opening marks the latest addition to the busy Boston Post Road West retail corridor, which includes several major shopping centers, restaurants, and national retailers. The shopping center is also home to businesses including Marshalls, Five Below, LongHorn Steakhouse, Panera Bread, and Verizon, among several other stores and restaurants.
